Hey Rhodentity...

I LOVED this comic! It was uber cheesy, but still practical.

Well done!

The idea of mixing melo-drama with a bit of fantasy made this comic fun to read. The idea of the villain and the hero getting together at the end was a nice twist.
You followed Todorov's narrative scheme but were creative at the same time.
On a more technical note, some of the photos were too stretched out. Other than that, good work!

Ah…come on guys!! You could have done much better than this. I mean narratives like this are so predictable and so boring, we can tell what is going to be the second equilibrium from the beginning of the narrative. I could have included other characteristics from Todorov to make the narrative more interesting and fun to read because really, this just sends me straight to sleep. Especially the fact that the villain ended up with the hero is just confusing, we get the villain giving Graig the love potion because she loves him not the hero and all of a sudden they end up being together? It doesn’t make sense. Instead the villain should hate the hero for messing up her plan.

You photo comic is quite interesting guys. The concept of the initial equilibrium was presented well with the reference to the lovers the disruption was also good though you could have introduced a complex idea of disruption rather than an attempted to have someone cast a love spell so to say. Also, scenery variations would have given your comic a much more interesting aspect. It was quite simple to understand and the conclusion of having to re-unite a binary of a hero and a villain created an alliance that is not usually created in narratives but it was quite unique and interesting to note that such a binary can be made into one unite.

Well done members of Rhodentity! Your comic strip left me speechless; I don’t even know why it happened to end so quickly. You guys must have worked so hard to create a brilliant comic strip as the “Rhodent Love Chronicles”. I like your comic strip, its perfect; I think it’s the best comic strip I enjoyed out of all of the comic strips I have seen so far. Guys you have applied Proppian narrative structure perfectly. Your Proppian approach is very clear. In part one I thought the hero was the charming Craig because he seemed to have the characters of a hero, but then it all changed in the end Xolani was the hero. Not talking about the villain, even 2 years old kid can tell that the crazy Megan is the villain. Todorov’s narrative model is also perfectly applied, in the comic strip there is an equilibrium, disruption, and new equilibrium. Effort has been put by all members in this comic strip. Shame to poor Lauren.

Excellent work Rhodentity!!!

Hey guys, well done, your comic was great to read!
I thought it portrayed a typical love story with a twist. The love story being that Megan was confused about who she really loved. I liked the fact that the hero and the villain get together in the end. It is very clear in the story who the hero and the villain are, according to Propp’s dramatis personae. Todorov’s theory is also evident in the comic in that the stages of equilibrium, disequilibrium, and the restoration of equilibrium can be clearly recognised.
I really enjoyed reading the comic, it was pretty lame, but fun to read.

I loved the comic guys! All the characters were convincing, the twist in motives kept the storyline going and the ending successfully managed to tie up all the loose ends =)

Also, well done on all the obvious dedication to your work, it really come out in the finished product; the pictures came out fantastically (guess someone was listening in all those journ lectures i didn't make it to, lol) and the captions were funny and kept the pace nicely. I think the only thing that could have possibly made it better might have been to dress up in costume, but at the same time, the normal clothes make the fantasy genre that much more interesting.

Thanks for the entertainment!
Peace

Yes! That's the way it should be, dammit. I was moaning to a friend of mine Yesterday that the villain never gets the girl (or in this case the guy). Although that comment was aimed at the movie "Prom night" it applies to this comic none the less. The sequence of equilibrium, disequilibrium and second equilibrium was well thought out. I like the idea that the hero saves the day because he is in love with the villain rather than the usual "must restore the balance of good and evil" attitude. Stories that start like this usually end in a typlical way and re-enforce the idea that life is black and white. I like this comic mostly because it shows the shades of grey in life.

Admittedly I was a little confused when the hero popped in out of no where, but it brought the story to a nice little finish with no ends left untied. Well done on playing out the cliche of the hero jumping in at the last second to save the day. It was a perfect re establishment of equilibrium to the story, as well as a nicely laid out set up, and disruption, of equilibrium. Well done. A little extra mixing up never hurt though...

What a fantastic strip! I loved seeing a cliche love story portrayed on the Rhodes grounds. Initially I was thinking "this is a little too predictable" but with the twist at the end with the hero and villian hooking up, it was classic! Big up you guys I loved the mix of genres (melodrama and comical) and the laguauge was easy to follow and the photo's were really clear!
Our comic strip was really different so you're welcome to take a squiz on www.balancingbeams.com
